Believe it or not, I still have not finished the blouse. It turns out what I’m working on isn’t even a shirt, but I’ll keep that for the title of any post working with this particular piece of clothing.
Before anything, I am answering last week’s struggle: Why does the blouse not fit as it should? Well, it was because I didn’t finish the frame of the blouse. I put it on when only half of it was done; it obviously didn’t fit right. We have a Hungarian saying: bolondnak készületlen házat ne mutass, which basically means don’t show your work before it’s complete to people who wouldn’t be able to appreciate it. Well, as we learnt last week, this week was all about patience, patience, patience, too.
So, the progress I’ve made. I am ALMOST there! I have literally three (two big and one small) final things to finish it off. First, I have to hem the neckline, sew the back and front pieces together over the left shoulder, and correct my mistake at the bottom of the shirt. These are the three things I have to do before I can say it is done.
Hemming the neckline doesn’t scare me too much; it should be easy after hemming the armholes. And fun, by the way, hemming curves is a lot of fun. That might be my favourite part so far. Sewing the front and back pieces over the left shoulder should be relatively easy as well, so I am confident (as much as I can be) about that. Now, correcting the bottom of the shirt is going to be a tough cookie. I’ve made a teeny-weeny mistake (HUGE actually), when cutting out the material in the VERY beginning of the project, I was supposed to cut out the front and back pieces to size. As you can guess by now, I did not do that, which then lead me to this:

I mean, please, what even is that?? I’ll figure it out; I will. No stress, but if anyone has any ideas about what and how I should do it, please don’t keep them to yourself. I am in desperate need of that information you have. Thank you for sharing. Remember, sharing is caring haha! The way I resolved the issue for now is that I folded the back piece, making it much shorted to match the front piece. This means that the hemming is off now, and that the back isn’t even, but I’ll figure that one out later. 😀
This week has been all about correcting mistakes. I mean, the number of times I’ve used the Seam Ripper is actually painful to think of. There was this one time when I sewed a zipper into my blouse that I had to unpick half of the zipper because I twisted the material somehow. I thought I’d burn the blouse and start over instead of going through the hassle. I, of course, unpicked the stitches and re-did the sewing, so it is inserted nicely now. I don’t have a photo of it for you, because I can’t cut out a nice view from the video I took, but I’ll upload the video of the whole process soon.
This might be the curse of the zippers, but this one time I literally had to unpick stitches whilst the material was literally attached to the sewing machine. This time I realised that I needed the end of the zipper material to be turned to the other side. I mean, can you imagine the pain? For those of you who know it, I’m sorry. For those of you that don’t, you are so very lucky.

So far, what I can tell you is that the blouse is much shorter than anticipated, but I’ll make it work, no worries.

Overall, whilst it was an eventful week, I progressed very little (mainly because I had to unpick most of what I did). I’m excited to see what next week brings. I hope a finished blouse and no more unpicking of the stitches.
